The water was under the bottom of the car. Driving through the water was mostly fine. It was the waves created by SUVs plowing through the deeper parts of the water that contributed to my car's stoppage.
No water in the cabin, carpets were not wet. I used my super strength to push the car out of standing water. There was only residual water lapping at the car from various wave-causing trucks (including a few school buses, semis, and a fire engine with crew that didn't stop to offer help either, a cell phone and AAA are nice to have!)
I spoke to the inde again this morning and he said that he drove the car this morning to check things out once more. He said it started right up and runs fine and would just need the "usual" flood things: new plugs, air filter, etc.
