Sludge in coolant reservoir

I was checking the color and consistency of my coolant today when I noticed a gray, greasy sludge in the bottom of my expansion tank. There isn’t much in there and it isn’t floating, but it is gray and greasy so I was wondering if it could be oil?

I was inspecting the coolant because I am worried I have a failing head gasket. I changed the O-ring in my distributor about two months ago, but recently my car has had a considerable leak in that area. I have been worried that it is the head gasket only because I have read that leaks usually begin in that area. This leak is on the head and not the block. I also noticed today a leak behind my exhaust manifold, what could this possibly mean?

My car runs well, I change the oil every 5k with Mobil 1 xW40. It uses little to no oil and it always looks good coming out during a change. Occasionally I get a low coolant message on the SID. When the coolant is low it is maybe 3 tablespoons low, so I add only distilled water. This my hose clamps loosened up and I tightened all of them that I could find, but have always thought that I missed a couple and that’s why I loose a little coolant.

Please give me your thoughts
