Replacement is very straight forward. Installed a wood dash on my son's '01 and his girl friend's '99 in an hour each. You can find the OEM wooden dash kits on Ebay every once in a while. I got one from England for $50 plus shipping and a second from a salvager in Vermont for $35 plus shipping.
Pull all of the switches, remove the radio and the SID unit. Remove the cowling around the sterring wheel. Then remove 10 (+/-) screws that attach the dash to the frame. The dash now pulls out. The new dash installed just as easily and quickly.
Good Luck
