I don't think they ride rough, to me they're actually very smooth and quiet as well as providing very high levels of grip, wet or dry.
I think any 215/45 series tire will not provide a cush ride, but there's always a trade off. I think a lot of it comes down to how flexible the sidewall is - the F1's seem to strike up a fair compromise. 38 PSI all around.
