Front end vibration/inner joint repair - got it apart!

After the vibration in the front end of my '02 93 became unbearable I decided to remove the passenger side driveshaft to see if the inner driver is the cause. I didn't find what I expected, and have run into an a problem that I was expecting.
How on earth do you get the inner driver out of the intermediate driveshaft? I've tried pounding a prybar into the opening between the two and it won't budge. When I started having problems I cut the clip off the inner boot and pulled the driveshaft away from the car. I didn't find what I expected. The joint was full of grease and the tripod appeared to be in good condition. There is a slight amount of play where the outer ring runs on the needle bearings, but I imagined something much worse. The whole car would shake like an old car with a u-joint that was completely shot. Also lots of thumping type noises at low speed. I felt the inside of the inner driver to check for wear and didn't find much noticeable wear.
Anybody have any suggestions on removing the inner driver from the intermediate shaft? I knew it was going to be tough, but this is ridiculous!
