'99 9-3, 113k auto...


Usually the auto trans will behave normally, but sometimes under heavy acceleration on the highway the transmission will rapidly switch between gears.. afterwards, the trans will not kick down, even if the pedal is pushed to the floor at any speed. If I turn the car off and start it again, everything is back to normal. I have gotten a Throttle Position Sensor CEL along with these symptoms a couple times in the past after some spirited interstate merges.. but it's been about 9 months since the last CEL, though these symptoms still happen from time to time.


Would replacing the TPS resolve this? Looks to be a pretty simple job..


I'm going to change the transmission fluid in a week or two.. my mechanic noticed it was pretty dark at the last service.. but it seems to be fine under normal circumstances..
