well the 98' 900 will drive more like a 9k, because saab switched to a hydraulic clutch that year, instead of mechanical like previous NG900. just look for the basic saab stuff, HG leaks(easy retoque fix though), any other fluid leaks like power steering or coolant, make sure you try everything on the car, make sure AC works, heat, windows, seat warmers, and everything else. Ask for records of maintenece too. look for CEL lights or any other lights that shouldnt be on. ask what was replaced. make sure it drives smoothly.
I have a 97' and the only real problems i've had were clutch cable(but you have hydraulic in 98')and power steering pump(it puked a few times, not too expensive and took like 45 minutes)
For 85k is hard to tell w/o looking at exterior condition as well as interior, and without knows if something doesnt work or if it is leaking. also it deppends what options it has. if it is in good condition w/ all options, i would say 4800. if somethings dont work or if it has some dings, dents, or rust i would try to point them out to seller and try to haggle for 4200ish.
