Hi everyone. I just wanted to post a success story :)

This morning I spilled coffee all over my SID and my radio. It always seemed like a disaster waiting to happen putting coffee so close to those two things...

Anyway, the SID sucked the coffee up into the display. When I got home, I took the SID apart hoping to find a way to wipe it clean.

Unfortunately, I discovered that the coffee had actually gone between two glass sheets glued together that comprise the display panel. The outside was clean, but the middle was full of coffee. I admitted defeat and put it back together.

I checked ebay and saw how expensive those things are! After the shock wore off, I came to saabnet to research. A brave fellow by the name of Tim had this problem back in 2003. He found success by prying the panels apart with a razor blade and cleaning them. Hey, what do I have to lose?

Well, it worked! Apparently the topmost sheet of glass is simply an anti-glare device glued to the actual display panel. It can be removed without damaging the display and reinserted with a little care.

I hope this info saves someone else some $$$!
