Hi - if anyone can offer some insight I'd appreciate it.

I have a 1996 2.0 turbo which was driving fine until 2 weeks ago when it abruptly died in a parking lot... it wouldn't start.

The mechanic I had it towed to said the starter was dead first we replaced that - then the ignition switch (which admittedly I knew needed to be replaced)

This did not fix the underlying problem... a dead car

Eventually the mechanic obtained access to a scanner and determined that the Fuel system ECU was dead and needed replacement.

Now, two Saabless weeks later I am being told that the new ECU was installed, but now my Gears aren't engaging... (its a 5 spd manual)

Can anyone offer me some insight into this and tell me if replacing an ECU can cause problems with the transmission?

I am at my wits end with this indie mechanic who supposedly specializes in Saabs. Is this guy lying toime, or does this sound like a legitimate situation..?

Any insight is appreciated
