I am in Vancouver and am looking into a '99 Saab 9-3 2DR hatchback with 123000km but have not actually seen the car as of yet so I cannot comment on its service history/condition but I have a question. It is being sold thru a local Saab dealer and has supposedly been service by them and they are asking CA$10995 for the car so here is my point. I plugged in the car details into Canadian Black Book and found out if it were trading in such a car I could only expect between CA$925 and CA$3675 from a dealer so how come the car is being sold at almost CA$11000. I have a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 as a trade which only has 41000km and as per the same site I should expect about CA$6000-CA$6700 as a trade in. I am considering paying ICBC (our government insurance provider) check out the car for for leaky head gaskets and problems associated with the A/C as I suspect it does not have ACC. I should probably check the condition of the tires/shocks and brakes as well but will probably leave all that too ICBC as I am no expert. What are servicing costs like for such a car, will it break my bank? Any service I should ensure must have been done before I consider purchasing? If I purchase the car I would have it serviced by a Saab specialist on Clarke Drive here in Vancouver, anyone have any experiences with them?
I know, too many questions but Id love to finally have a Saab as I have been drooling over them since I was 18 years old which is 25 years ago.
Interesting fact, the insurance for said car is only $150 a year more than my current car which is odd.
Thank you in advance for everything. I hope to finally "join the family" one of these days!
:-)
