Blown Head Gasket?

So, my 99 9-3 had been using a lot of oil, and was hard to start, and I took it to an independent saab mechanic who diagnosed a bad turbo. He replaced the turbo, and then it still was using oil, but less oil (down to 1.5 quarts per 1000 miles from 4 quarts per 1000 miles).
Also, boost was MUCH stronger, and there was absolutely no more engine knock.
Then, this morning it was a bit hard to start again, and blew a little cloud of smoke out the exhaust pipe. I didn't think much of it, and proceeded to drive down the highway at 75MPH. Car was running great. I reached an uphill stretch of highway, gave a little more gas, boost guage went up, and then the car started sputtering, misfiring, and belched a cloud of blue smoke out the back.
I managed to limp to the next exit, where I knew there is a saab dealer (reinertsen in Denville, NJ). They tell me I have no compression on 2 cylinders. What else could this be but a bad head gasket? They are unwilling to say so far that this is definitely the problem. They say they will have to remove and replace head to the tune of $1000 labor. I would likely do this if I knew that this is the problem. Is it possible that strong new turbo boost pressure accelerated head gasket failure?
