FWIW, State Farm just bought my '96 SET with 93k on the clock for about $4700, about $5k in my pocket after taxes and such. The car was in very good shape and I probably should have negotiated for a few hundred more....
At 90k it could be looking at a new clutch, new shocks/struts and a new water pump/radiator (it is 10 yrs old after all) in the near future.
I'm on my third Saab now and my one piece of advice would be not to think of it as a $5k car. Think of it as a $10k or 15k car that you can get for $5k, and budget the maint. accordingly. Figure on an average of $100/month, if you can't or won't spend that on it, then take a pass. If you can and do, it'll probably be a great car for many years.
regards, Mike
