Could a SID3 replace the SID2 ?

Hi guys,
I'm new here! Just wonder if the SID3 (5buttons) could replace the SID2 (3buttons) in my 900S 2.3 ?
My car is '94 S and there're 2 lines of the SID2 not illuminate.
Could I just buy the SID3 from junk yard & plug the unit in the SID2 harness?
If so do I need to find the SID3 from the exact year '94? or any year ('94-'98) would be fine?
Will all function of SID3 (ie. speed warn, dist to dest, etc..) work in the 2.3S ?
TIA guys!
