I have a '00 Viggen that I am running 225/45/17 also, and I had the problem as well, until I installed the Steering rack brace. Now it is 'mostly' eliminated. There still is a hint but it's much more hidden.
Snow tires typically have softer sidewalls which is why they most likely didn't follow ruts as much. 215/45/17 summer tires followed the grooves more often than my 225/45/17, then added the brace and all is well.
