Idler went and took out Serp Belt
Drove until temp gauge started to rise and coasted to my destination
Fixed belt in parking lot
Water pump started slow leak. Ran it for about a week topping up with water.
A/C clutch failed(probably from getting drenched)
Got all the parts and did the water pump and A/C compressor at the same time
After searching this board, found Hancock Industries for A/C stuff. Go to http://www.hodyon.com for info and ordering. I paid $249 for PN 36-3211 compressor with clutch(my compressor was probably OK but couldn't get just the clutch from Hancock at that time and it was probably safer to do the whole thing)
You will need the original # from your compressor for them to match (visible from the bottom)
Bought A/C recharge kit from AutoZone for $19.95
Did the recharge myself and was quite happy that it went fine and I have cold air
Note on A/C fill: There must be a pressure switch that keeps the clutch off until a certain pressure so don't think you have a problem because you can't get the compressor running like i did. I didn't know so started testing/jumping to see what the problem was. Had a blown fuse in the A/C location of the fuse box under the hood and when that didn't get the compressor going, I figured there was a safety. Started filling and the compressor started running.
Filled with new DexCool
Everything working fine but I have to say that water pump is not a real easy or fun job
Moral of the story: When serp belt goes - shut down the engine!
Later, C.
