Hi all:
My front rotors are seized on. The car has 290,000 km on it and these are probably the originals (I boiught the car with 184,000 km on it). I started on the front left and tried heating with propane torch and hitting it with a 2 pound hammer but it won't budge. I also borrowed a puller from a nearby shop (arms with hooks that I hooked to outer edge of rotor, then turned center bolt that pushed against the axle spindle) but the metal of the puller actual cracked and gave. How much force is safe to use? Should I try a sledge hammer? I was worried about damaging the bearings or steering components so I didn't want to use full force with the hammer. I've put everythin back together and am planning to take the car to a shop, but it really irks me that I couldn't do it myself.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Fred
