Odd Headlight pattern

My that's the way there made, but I'm getting what I think is an odd light-pattern from by 96 900SEt headlamps. There's no special marking on either lens to indicate either is an European headlamp; but I'm used to the left and right sides being similar beam-patterns. The right side beam is "normal" with light out and down and the typical hot-spot 100'-150' ahead of the car. The high beams look about normal if a bit "high" since here we tend to adjust the low beams as high as possible to throw way out in front of the car at highway speeds since there's never really the opportunity to use the hight-beams due to traffic.
But the left headlamp's pattern a very-narrow, very wide horizontal beam from side-to-side with a hot-spot that above the narrow-horizonatal up in the trees. It's as-if it were a foglamp, it's that narrow...maybe 3-ft and 200-ft in front of the car...with little light being thrown above or below that beam. I just bought tht car...and it passed inspection, but I wonder if I have a screwed-up H3 bulb? It seems to be fully-seated. Maybe the little cup over the lower-beam filament's upsidedown?
It just seems odd....
This weekend will be at friends to install new pass-side fog-lamp housing and see if both foglamps work. I do miss my C900's cornering-lamps; hopefully the fogs along with the properly-aimed headlamps will illuminate both the road a-head and the ramp-curbs and drainage-ditches.
