Does anyone know how to tell if the fuel pump is bad after it has been replaced? (I am getting the old part back).
Long story short, my Saab wouldn't start one morning after running fine (no problems whatsoever). It was turning over just not catching. After ruling out battery and alternator issues, the car was towed to a mechanic who said it was a bad ignition sensor (I believe, it's early, caffeine hasn't fully kicked in---it was a bad ignition something) but then without my authorization, he also claimed the fuel pump was bad and replaced that as well.
Now I doubt the pump as I had no stalling issues whatsoever and I know that if this garage is shaddy, there is a very good chance 'my' old fuel pump might not even be mine. But on the off chance I do get my actual old pump back, how do I tell if it's really bad or not?
