Window Fell Into Door

The rear driver side window on my '97 900SE simply "fell" into the door. I can lift it with my hands, but it just falls back into the slot in the door. Can anyone tell me what causes this, whether an indy mechanic (who works on Saabs) can fix it or whether I'll need to take it to a dealer, and approximately what it will cost to fix? Many thanks.
