Stuck! PS rack removal.......HELP! Posted by Bwana [Email] (#644) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bwana) on Sun, 2 Mar 2008 01:46:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
900NG Auto (RHD UK)- Commenced with the replacement of the PS rack and the pressure hose under the radiator, all going well with the pipes/track rods disconnected until I got to the removal of the second of the 2 clamps which holds the rack against the bulkhead wall. This is a U-clamp with a nut at the bottom and a 13mm bolt at the top and is located beneath the vacuun servo unit. I just could not fit in any socket or spanner to open this top 13mm bolt as there is not enough tolerance between the clamp and the bottom of the servo unit - just does not make sense!?! Surely the servo nit does not have to be removed to access this bolt? Anyone experienced this in replacing the steering rack? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
I have a photo of the problem clamp but don't know how to post it here but could email to anyone interested.
