I have owned exclusively Saabs for the last 20 years and I have to admit the upgraded audio option that is in my recently purchased 97 900SE 3-dr
is probably the most awesome sounding factory system I have heard in a long time! Unfortunately, I can't say the same for my 97 9000CSE's system which also has all the upgrades but the bass is extremely boomy! Anyways, back to the 900's system. The subwoofers in the door provide good, clean, deep, tight bass, especially with the loudness button on! The highs are crisp and clean also! The radio sounds great but the CD changer really sounds perfect. I have a lot of high end audio in my home and I have a very critical ear and this system ROCKS! I am a pretty much OEM guy so I don't like non factory sound systems in my cars and am very happy with this one. To me, it blows away the system in my 03 9-5 Aero which was a top of the line car for SAAB back then and 6 years newer than the 97! The 03 has ok bass, a little boomy thought, but no where near the crisp highs that you get with the 97!
I always wonder why a car manufacturer would go backwards rather than forwards with something like this. GM influence maybe? I'd be interested if anyone else has noticed how awesome the system is in the 97 900's?
