The replacement of the top cover is easier than on the classic model but a few steps and cousion should be noted. Buy a new top cover (about 500), it will save you time and nerves. There is a new replacement kit available that includes all you need. Also buy some 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive, thats the gklue for the top cover. And, as earlier said, buy a lot of clamps (a lot).
Remove the old top carefully. Do NOT let the 5th bow slip out of the gears. This will require new synchronisation, and thats complicated. Remove all old glue with for instance some lemon cleaner. Start by stapling the flap above the rear window to the 4th bow. There are holes that must line up with the middle of the bow. The middle hole must line up with the mid mark on the bow. Attach the protective tape over the staples and cut of the excessive cloth. attach loosely without glue the top over the 1st bow. Then insert the tension wires. Then attach without glueing the top cover to the c-posts and fold it over the tension bow. lower the bow carefully to stretch the fabric to fit. Then raise the bow again. Start by clueing the top cover to the c-posts. Make sure the lower end lines up and is fully in the pocket in the fabric. The small flap in the fabric must also be clued to the little finn on the c-post. Secure the entire lenght of the c-posts with clamps. The fit the top cover over the tension bow and clue it fixed. Do not glue on the outsisde of the bow (same goes for the c-posts by the way). Lower the bow again to stretch the fabric. Check the fixation and secire with a lot of clamps. Then clue the top cover to the 1st bow. Make sure the center marks line up. Secure with clamps. Leave the top in almoust closed position (tonneau cover open) over night to settle.
Remove the clamps and close the roof. Check the fixation. Then fixate the anti ballooning straps to the 2nd and 3rd bows. Beware of the center marks and do not tigthen. Then refit the rest of the parts.
Then close the roof completely. Moisten the roof with some lukewarm water and let rest outside (not in direct sunlight). Remoisten and let rest again. That should do it.
Hope it helps.
