Replacing hoses - how much pressure in the P/S system?

I recently replaced the power steering return hose (this is the all-rubber hose, that runs between the steering rack, mounted on the firewall, and the bottom of the p/s fluid reservoir) on my '97 900 SE Turbo. I used 3/8" (9.5mm) Goodyear Fuel/Emission SAE 30R7 hose, from AutoZone. The original Saab hose is $25, and I, a college student & a cheapskate, couldn't see paying that.
The question I have is: the Goodyear hose is rated at 50psi. First, is Fuel/Emission hose safe for handling P/S fluid... and 2nd, is there more than 50psi, in the P/S system??? (I can't imagine the system being under more pressure, but...)
Also, if anyone's ever done this before, the metal pipe that the hose fits onto, thats connected into the p/s rack (which is mounted on the firewall) pivots in it's fitting in the rack. I'm not sure, but I don't imagine this pipe (Saab p/n 4482642) is supposed to pivot. It has a lock nut at the other end that's pretty difficult to get to - should this be tightened fast, so the metal pipe does NOT pivot?
I know this is long, everyone... thanks for reading!!!!
