That is weird.
I know this may sound st(pd, but are you sure your battery terminals are tight?
Is that an auto or manual? If manual, you can put it in neutral, turn it to "start," and see if there's voltage at fuse 36 (if I recall correctly). If not, it's the starter relay.
Sounds like some kind of ground problem - when the voltage tries to go through the start circuit, it grounds out somewhere.
Isn't it more standard to disconnect the negative terminal when working on a car?
Worse case scenario is to have it towed to a shop with a Tech2 - I believe there are a few tests that can be done with the Tech2 to narrow the problem.
