I have a 2000 viggen and its got some issues. a while back it started idling real low, then it would not crank.so i replaced the di cassette. ran fine for a bit and then while driving down the interstate the engine cut. it seemed like a fuel cut but sounded like the engine was still running just no throttle response. so at that moment the car is engine braking and i pull over. restart it and start driving again. it now has a check engine light and will still cut off while driving down the interstate. took it in to jim ellis saab because i had to get the car fixed to get back to school so no time for waiting on parts with an independent. they tell me its the throttle body malfunctioning. after being robbed with a $700 charge im back on the road. cars running fine until about 4 hours of driving. i get a check engine light and shortly after the car starts cutting off again. im back at school for a while then return telling the dealer im having the same problems. they scan it again and the techII says its the throttle again. dealer says they cleared the code and if it happens again to let them know because something might be stuck in the intake pipe(what the hell? did i accidentally jam some golf balls in there one day and forget?)so with that bs excuse im back on my way. roughly 4 hours later same thing, cel and throttle cut. so im pissed at this point. i try unplugging the battery for a bit and do this several times. clear the code but the pedal feels rigid and acts very weird then a cel arrives and im back in limp home mode. i take it into a reliable independent called sovereign automotive and they get the same error code and cant really tell whats going on. they reset it and try to get the problem to come back but of course that takes 4 hours so they dont get it to. i go driving back to school and the problem comes back. anyone have ideas? ive been squeezing vacuum hoses and looking for leaks and nothing... anyone heard of something like this?
