Ben-- I am assuming the cap, wires rotor etc. are new(er) and have been rules out....Just a thought, but since the Crank Position Sensor (CPS) is a very common failure item on Saabs to fail I would check this if you have a multimeter/voltmeter: spec on 900S I believe is 850 ohms +/-. Mine was 1750 ohms and way out of spec. Had single and mult. random misfire codes before replacement. (1996 900S w/ new plugs, rotor, cap).
Post replacement no misfires and car idles/runs more smoothly.
Just a thought.
(I doubt the antifreeze smell is correlated, but you should troubleshoot/diagnose the HG problem separately.)
