I've never swapped one of the modern engines, but the best piece of advice I can offer you is this: TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES. Seriously, take pictures of every wiring harness (label these as well), every major part, every tricky motor mount, everything. It might add 20 minutes to your total time investment but trust me, it will save you tons of headaches on the back end when you're trying to get everything back together. I've had the engine out of my 85 about 3 times, and have swapped around several other C900 engines over the past 10 years. It's really not that bad a job, but make sure you've got plenty of time - don't rush.
As far as things to do while you've got the new engine on the stand, well - how many miles? I would def. replace the belt + idler pulley, will be mucho easy compared to doing it in the car. Hows the water pump? If the engine has over 100k, might be a good idea to swap it now. Might also want to drop the oil pan and inspect/clean any sludge around the pickup. Just think to yourself about any job that's really sucked on your other cars - it's probably way easier to do now. Good luck!
