loosing coolant, re-torqued head, valve cover questions

Just recently purchased a 01 9-3 Viggen, my to my dismay after about a week it started loosing coolant, with no visible signs. As with my '94 900 vert, I immediately turned to this site, and naturally found exactly what I was looking for.
I re-torqued the head bolts. Front bolt on #4 was finger tight, rear on #4 was only slightly loose. Hopefully this has solved my problem.
However there are a couple of other issues I have some questions about.
The DI bolts were not tight at all, nor were the valve cover bolts. The valve cover was seated on though, enough that it required a rubber mallet to remove. One of the valve cover bolts under the DI had backed itself nearly all the way out.
Should there be lock washers, or some type of thread locker on the valve cover and or DI bolts?
