OK ignore the previous post that just has an opinion... let's stick to facts on this board for mechanical posts (clutch feel is the same as you'll later read)
The stock car can in fact last an average 100k with the stock clutch just fine.
The point of putting on the upgraded clutch is many fold - number one is increased life before having to replace it again. Usually it's 1000 bucks or more, or a lot of hours work to get in there - so why put in something that will just work when you can put in something heavy duty?
So why didn't the factory just put it in all models? Usually a stronger clutch is heavier to push due to the increased mass to handle higher torque loads, and most engineers just accept this fact because the difference is usually larger than in this case of Saab clutches - in this case experience in actual testing is why everyone recommends to do this, they can't tell the difference when pushing on the pedal -
so the only other consideration in reality is price - if you can get the stock kit cheaper than the heavy duty model then there you go, do it. This again has run the other way in my experience though, with many getting the better clutch they have inadvertantly driven the price down to where it costs the less to get the viggen clutch on discount through cheap sources.
So find your numbers (check online sources for parts of course) and that should help you make the decision! Any shop should either allow parts brought in or price match.
