I've fought with rust on c900's. Sandblasting and painting is the way to go; especially with a desiccant in the air line to the sandblasting gun to dry the air before it hits the metal (as compressed air can have moisture in it). If the metal is too thin from rust after sandblasting, it is better to remove the metal completely and weld in a new piece. It is important to make sure that the hidden side of the metal is painted too, otherwise it will rust from the inside out. Warming the metal slightly with a hair drier before painting helps dispel moisture and helps the paint dry faster. HTH
