Help, Coolant Sensor at T-stat in Head

Ok, I need some help. I'm finishing up with a head gasket job on a 1996 Saab 900 SE Turbo. I took the head to a shop, they did a full valve job, and resurfaced the head. During their process they removed the sensor at the t-stat housing. I started puting the sensor back in, and during the process the nut portion sheared from threads, leaving the threads in the head. I attempted to use my screw extractor to remove it, and the extractor snapped off inside the brass of the fitting.
So now my questions are, is that a tapered thread? Am I going to have issues leaking there? Will there be issues driving the car with out that connected other than having no signal in the dash? I really don't want to have to pull the head again to have this pulled out of the port.
Thanks,
matt
