Local garage checked it out and said there was a code error, computer problem and referred me to the local Saab dealer. Reading on the different forums it seems that disconneting the battery for a while can sort cmputer issues out. Last night I took the neg terminal off and left it overnight. This morning I reconnected it and the car starts and runs beautifully.
This is by far the strangest thing I have had with a car and I'm glad to see the back of it with minimal outlat.
Thanks
Roger
