I too went from an '86 SPG to a 2002 Viggen. Viggen is a better car in most ways and much more fun to drive IMO.
Only down sides are: the trunk has slightly less useable space especially when the seats are folded down; as much as I love my two door, the rear windows don't pop open like the SPGs and getting into the rear seat is a real PITA; headlights really suck until you install ecodes...a must; and servicing is a bit more complicated if you DIY.
The Viggen is holding up much better than the SPG with respect to rust, brake calipers, fuel injection system, electrical and gets much better fuel economy in particular after a Nordic stage 4 install.
The C900 is much more distinctive and you could never lose it in a parking lot. I had many people ask me about my SPG and if I wanted to sell it. The Viggen is much more stealth.
As others have said, you'll enjoy it. Mine puts a much bigger smile on my face everytime I drive it....or look out into my drive way!
