Jeremy, this is very helpful/useful information.
The good news appears to be the fluid has probably
been changed at least once since 1997 and before
I bought it in 2008.

The challenge is going to be getting the plug out
and, more importantly, to figure out whether the
fluid now in the transmission is motor oil or
a synthetic fluid.

There is no sticker indicating a fluid change,
so I am going to have to figure out based on
color or smell whether the stuff in the tranny
is motor oil or synthetic fluid.
