Repl. manifold, changed coolant, added block heater.... Posted by ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ryan) on Mon, 2 May 2011 12:03:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
and went back to the stock air intake this weekend on my Viggen. Found out some interesting things. 1. I had enlarged the exit port on my 'project' manifold (smoothed out castings, tapped 1/8 NPT for EGT probe, ceramic coated, DEI exhaust wrap) to 1.5" Diam. to open it up as much as the gasket would allow, and expected the turbo inlet to be 1 3/8" like the manifold was, but it is in fact 1.5" as well (so mismatched size from the factory?), but that was a plus because I didn't have to remove the turbo to dremel it out to match 2. The exhaust manifold studs are REALLY tight in the block. I couldn't remove them even with vice grips (one had sheared off long ago, and I planned to replace all of them). 3. Dex Cool is sh!t (already knew that though, but got to see how much sediment was in my overflow reservoir) Also I put my stock intake back on with a K&N. I miss the noise from the GS intake, but the filter kept getting water dumped on it, plus the gaps between the shield and the hood, and the shield and the fender look like the intake must be sucking in a pretty decent amount of hot air. Before I put the new K&N in, I shop-vac'ed the suction side of the filter to *possibly* get more flow through it so as to get any oil off it that could possibly come off. Probably makes no difference, but it was easy and quick so why not. Anyway just some random thoughts, thought I'd share.
