Replacing Oil Pressure Sender on 9-3

This is actually not a bad DIY. On my 2001 9-3, I could look down at the oil pressure sender on the back of the block and see oil dripping out from it.
I drove the car up onto ramps which gave me plenty of room to do the task.
1. As you know the starter has to be removed in order to access the oil pressure sender.
2. There is one nut at the bottom of the starter that is easily accessed from under the car.
3. While you are there you should also remove the manifold support rod so the starter can come out.
4. Under the hood on the driver’s side down on the firewall side of the bellhousing is a bolt you can barely see that actually screws into the starter. Remove that bolt and the starter can be removed from under the car. You don’t need to actually remove it just take it off the bellhousing and position it out of the way so you have access to the sender.
5. The oil pressure sender requires a 24 mm socket (after you snip off its wire) to remove. Be careful because I took the old one out, did not screw in the new one immediately and oil started dripping out.
6. Now comes the challenge. You cannot use the socket to tighten the new on (because of the wire) and its location is such that there is no room for a normal size wrench. Because I ride, I had some bicycle-style flat, short wrenches for various bike adjustments. I took a Dremel to one of those and made a flat, short 24 mm open ended wrench to tighten the new sender.
7. Button everything up in reverse order and you will be leak free.
