Ignition leads Posted by Bwana [Email] (#644) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bwana) on Mon, 28 Nov 2011 04:46:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 93 SE appears to be running on the quite old ignition leads (not original) and a few days ago the lead from the DC to the coil gave way (rotted away) at the boot connector on the coil end (strange?). Anyway, ordered a new set from a supplier on ebay who had a brand new old stock of the ignition lead set. It has the 'Bougicord 403 CLASS D' imprints in white and are properly shaped with long boots for plugs and elbow connectors for the DC. I remember that my old 900 had the same make leads, so I presume that these are the SAAB OE lead set?
Other strange thing is that my 93 is an 08/98 model and all the spare part shops including the SAAB dealer come up with it as fitted with a direct ignition module which is NOT the case as it has the traditional single lead plug leads connected to a DC and the bottle coil behind the battery! Even with the VIN chassis number, the Dealers records showed it as a direct ignition model!?!
