97 900S 2.3L (no turbo). 160k Miles, the last 120k of that on Mobil 1.
I've done all of the work on it and have been very careful to maintain it properly.

The engine runs GREAT but it's started smoking on start (only when sitting, usually takes overnight). About 5-10 seconds after starting and continuing for 30 seconds or so. Fills up the garage with a oil smelling blue-white smoke, Then runs smoke free. Uses about 1/2 quart in 2000 miles. Re-torqued the head gasket (because I thought it might be coolant at one time), no change.
To try and pin down the cause, pulled the PCV hose and plugged it. Started the car, still smoked and nothing special coming out the valve cover hole so I've eliminated the PCV system. Next day started it, turned off as soon as I saw smoke. Pulled the plugs, they were all oily, mostly equal though number 2 might have been a bit more. Next day, drove it around, did a compression test. All of the cylinders were equal. First engine rotation, 120, second 150, third 180, fourth 220. I'm thinking that rules out the rings. So, does this sound like valve stem seals? TIA!
