2001 Saab 9-3, 144K, started to drain the battery, the original finally, died, new on now in, seems like the same thing is continuing.
--Remove positive lead, put meter in series. Starts out at .70A, drops to 0.13 A. Same thing happens if door opens and light is not on.
--Look at the fuses next to the battery (all 60A, remove only one at a time then replace it) and pull the closest one to the driver, the current drops to 0.090 A; if the next one toward the front of the car is removed, current drops to 0 A. Removing either of the far left two does nothing for the current draw.
--Checked out both rear hatch lamp and glove box lamp. If individually on, current jumps to around 1.5 amps or so; this test confirmed they are not the culprit.
--Tried pulling fuses in relay box one by one (pull one, note any changes, put it back then go to next one) RESULT: NO changes from the .13A draw.
--Interior fuse box
--Looking at interior fuses, puling one by one then replacing. If I pull #35 which is labeled “DICE-TWICE-MAIN INSTR-INTERIOR LIGHT, it drops down to .01A.
--I do have the Service theft alarm display on the SIDs, am working to replace the lithium batteries – QUESTION could replacement of the batteries have anything to do with the drain .
From posts I have seen, normal draw should be in the range of 0.014A, the current drain looks to around 7 times normal.
