read up on viscosity index (VI). fluid that has little change in viscosity between low and high temps has a higher VI.
higher flash point is also a general indicator of better lubricity before burning off.
some mineral oil (non category IV and V) can have higher VI than some synthetics.
sounds like a transmission cooler might be an idea.
if your cooling system (rad, pump, thermostat, etc.) is running too hot it will tax your trans fluid as well.
donno about my saab, but my '06 chevy runs in a different shift mode until trans fluid temp heats up to 175F (normal).
