A way to tell if you have a transmission that is slipping is to get going around 15-20 (maybe a little more) mph. Shift right from 1st into 4th gear and put it to the floor. Youll have to decide how fast u need to go so you dont obviously stall out, but the idea here is to really start out bogging in 4th and creep up with the pedal wide open. If there is a slip in your tranny, it will definitely do it in that situation.
