How's your sparkplugs? What kind? Ignition cassette?
There isn't any "cam-position sensor". When you first start the engine it fires the plugs on TDC of compression and exhaust stroke. Then it measures subtle feedback from the plugs to decide which one is the compression stroke. If it gets confused then it can stumble for a bit before it figures out compression vs. exhaust strokes.
