Front strut mount replacements weird question

Service records show that when my front struts were replaced, only one mount was replaced, but not which one. I now have one that has failed, and I would like to know if it is the replacement or the original. One is black, the other is plated steel. Anyone know what the originals look like? Car is a 99 SE 5 door.
