I went to reassemble the front brakes (removed to install an engine on this SE HO w/ 76k on the clock) and checked to see about upgrading the calipers per Plantoff and others -
WHAT I found was that it already has the FN3 57/25 calipers on the front!
I have not located the discs removed but surely they didn't use the larger calipers and smaller discs (they wouldn't line up with the pads correctly I'd guess.)
So there is another upgrade on the '99 SE High Output models that everyone missed apparently (not included in the matrix) - with the increased power they apparently added the Viggen's front brakes - the original owner of this car had it serviced at Saab dealers and had no modifications with low miles. It sat in my garage for 4 years with a low oil pressure engine and blown head gasket until last month when I finally installed a 35k mile unit I had stored for 6 years (came from long storage in Oregon off eBay in '07)
Of course the down facing T-25 is present along with the viggen intercooler now reinstalled.
Ironically all front calipers by Nugeon are on sale at eeuro - so you can upgrade that way right now cheap.
