Anything is possible and it is much easier to see and diagnose for the person who is actually looking at the car compared to a person trying to guess over the internet based on what the poster provide in information.
When you add that <He says that the chain may be lose and starting to produce a "little" noise> it still doesn't make much sense to me that replacing the tensioner alone would cure the problem.
But if he is a Saab mechanic at a dealer he certainly knows as much and more than I do.
My suggestion based on the mileage of the car and if you are fanatic about it and want to be sure everything is right is to remove the oil pan, cylinder head and timing cover and replace timing and balance chains and guides and balance chain tensioner.
With this repair, you would get a whole new chain setup, cleaned out oil pickup screen, new head gasket and exhaust manifold studs and gasket.
Even pulling out the pistons and get new rings installed would be a good idea too.
My other suggestion would be to remove the valve cover and check the extension of the timing chain tensioner and replace the chain pad inside valve cover, that might make the chain quite down somewhat.
My third suggestion would be to just leave it alone.
