Strut bearings probably would have been my first choice . . . even though you replaced them once, the 9-3's seem to eat them. 90k on (presumably) aftermarket bearings isn't bad.
Don't fear the work . . . fear the springs; and treat them with the utmost respect. I've read a few account of people working the strut bearing out without disconnecting the struts, but it's really not that much work to drop them and makes the job easier and safer in my opinion.
Good luck.
