Got the right pulley this morning, job complete Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 21 Sep 2013 09:34:27 In Reply to: Dang it, AutoZone sold me the wrong idler pulley, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 20 Sep 2013 16:12:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I called the local Import Car Parts store soon after they opened this morning and they had the right pulley in stock. Unfortunately it was an URO brand when I got to the store, but it is mounted on my engine now.
The Brand name of the failed belt disappeared with the two ribs shearing out, printing said "Made In The USA". The old tensioner was labeled DAYCO on the back side and was so filthy I would have guessed it to be original. The upper idler had no discernable marking and the balls in the bearing were loose and rattled when spun.
The access port in the right front wheel well is a God Send for aligning the new belt. I would go broke if I were charging people standard rates for this type of work. I think it took me two hours.
