What is required yo have the "MAF computer measured"?
Is a SAAB computer system/software required? or any generic engine diagnostic tool?
Last spring the engine light came ON and the Viggen would only run 'reasonably' between 1500 and 2500 rpm, below 1500 it would stall, above 2500 it would run very rough and not climb much above 2500. Took it to the shop that survived after the close of the SAAB dealership, and still retains a SAAB trained mechanic. The shop said that they could not retain the SAAB software and could not easily diagnose engine issues. The SAAB mechanic did some cleaning and maintenance, including the MAF about an hour's time) and all was back to normal. The mechanic suggested I might have to replace the MAF in the near future.
The shop informed me that there is only 1 shop in Alberta that has the SAAB software, located in Edmonton, 190 miles away.
Sorry for the long comment, but to repeat, is a SAAB computer system/software required? or any generic engine diagnostic tool?
At 130,000km, should I buy a new MAF now in anticipation of near future failure?
