tried jacking up the car in the front to see if moving the wheels had any effect - NOPE. Did manage to get the little center section to pop up, so it at least has turned off those functions. Also moved the brake pedal and could hear the little solenoid activating and deactivating ( tried to cycle this lot) while wiggling the shifter along with trying the key all at the same time-- to no avail.
Am thinking that the lock assembly itself is so worn (wiggles side to side a lot) that it will either 1) need to be picked by a locksmith to allow it to turn to off so the cylinder catch can be pushed to remove the cylinder OR 2)drill it out and buy a new lock assembly.
Is there any advantage to trying to save the lock cylinder to rebuild it or is this a lost cause?
Looks like any way I go, it appears I will likely need at least two new keys made for the car locks and a new cylinder if the old cannot be rebuilt.
I welcome some thoughts and experiences.
