Those bushings go at the bottom of the shifter inside the car. They couple the rod that goes through the firewall to the shifter. I replaced mine a couple of years ago. The originals were so worn that the rod would rattle and make a lot of noise if I let out the clutch and didn't have enough gas on. They firmed up the shifter a little bit, but I replaced them more to eliminate the noise. It sounded like I had a bad dashboard rattle. It will take a couple of hours to replace them if it's your first time. You have to disconnect the linkage at the transmission, remove one of the seats, take off the center console, and then unbolt the shift housing from the floor, turn it sideways, and unbolt the shifter rod. If you don't take out a seat, you'll have a horrible time getting enough room to turn the shift housing sideways.
